What to know before buying a Voyah
- A young brand, not yet steadily profitable. Voyah has only been selling cars since 2021. After a good 2025, it reported a net loss of 389 million yuan in the first half of 2026.
- The software is from Huawei and designed for China. Qiankun driver assistance and HarmonySpace infotainment depend on Chinese maps and services. Check with us what works in Moldova and what language the interface is in.
- Range figures are on the Chinese CLTC cycle. For example, the Passion PHEV has a claimed 262 km of electric range. In real conditions, count on about two-thirds of the CLTC figure on average, and about half on the highway in winter.
- No official representation in Moldova. Voyah's network in Europe is still small, and the used Voyah market here is just starting. Resale value is hard to estimate.
Voyah · annual sales
Voyah annual deliveries
Deliveries grew every year. In 2025 they rose by 75%, thanks to the Dreamer MPV and the new models with Huawei. For 2021, the figure covers only August–December, after deliveries began.

A short history
Voyah is the premium brand of Dongfeng, one of China's largest state-owned carmakers, based in Wuhan. The Voyah company was founded in April 2019, and the name and logo were unveiled on July 17, 2020. The idea: a separate brand, with no gasoline cars, to compete with China's new EV makers and with foreign premium brands.
The first model was the Free SUV, delivered from August 2021. By the end of the year, Voyah had handed over 6,791 cars. The Dreamer MPV followed in 2022, and at the end of 2022 the Passion sedan (Zhuiguang in China). Also in 2022, Voyah opened its first showroom outside China, in Oslo, and delivered the first Free cars in Norway in December.
In January 2024, Voyah signed a cooperation agreement with Huawei. Since 2025, all new models come with Huawei's Qiankun ADS driver assistance and HarmonySpace infotainment. Also in 2025 came the Free+, the larger Passion L sedan and the large Taishan SUV. Deliveries rose to 150,169 cars, below the internal target of 200,000.
In March 2026, the Dongfeng group delisted from the Hong Kong stock exchange, and Voyah was listed there separately, without raising new capital. Dongfeng remained the majority shareholder. In May 2026, Stellantis and Dongfeng announced a joint venture to sell the Voyah brand in Europe. In the first half of 2026, Voyah delivered 76,264 cars (+35.9%), but swung to a loss. Then came the Taishan X8 SUV (May), the Passion S coupe SUV (August) and the flagship Dream 9 MPV (September 2026).
What sets it apart
Two types of hybrid: EREV and PHEV
Voyah uses both solutions. The Free is an EREV: the 1.5-liter turbo gasoline engine only charges the battery, and the wheels are driven only by the electric motors. The Passion, Passion L, Dreamer and Taishan are plug-in hybrids (PHEV): the same combination of a 1.5 turbo engine and two electric motors, but at high speed the gasoline engine can drive the wheels directly. The full explanation is in PHEV, EREV or BEV.
Huawei on board
Since 2025, Voyah has used Huawei's Qiankun ADS 4 driver assistance across the whole lineup, with lidar on the top models, and HarmonySpace 5 infotainment. The cooperation model is called “Huawei Inside”: Voyah makes the car, Huawei supplies the software and sensors. The newest models, like the Dream 9, already have ADS 5.
800 V platform and fast charging
New models, like the Taishan, Passion L and the 2026 Dreamer, have an 800 V architecture and 5C charging. The manufacturer claims 20–80% in about 12 minutes at suitable fast chargers. At the usual 400 V stations in Moldova, charging will be slower.
Large cars, designed for passengers
Voyah mostly makes large cars. The Passion sedan is 5.09 m long with a 3 m wheelbase, the Passion L is 5.13 m, and the Taishan SUV is 5.23 m with six seats. Air suspension and seats with massage and ventilation are common, and the Dreamer MPV is designed as a family or executive car.
Voyah uses English names for export and Chinese names at home. Dreamer (or Dream) is 梦想家, Mengxiangjia, “the dreamer”. Passion is 追光, Zhuiguang, “the one who chases the light”. Courage is 知音, Zhiyin. Taishan (泰山) is named after China's sacred mountain and does not yet have an export name. The Free is called the same everywhere. The L suffix means a larger version, and the Free+ and Free 318 are variants of the Free SUV.
The full Voyah lineup and positioning
Voyah is Dongfeng's premium brand: it sits above Dongfeng eπ and Nammi and competes in China with Li Auto, AITO (Huawei), Denza and Zeekr, and in price and size with brands like BMW or Mercedes.
The Price level column shows, on a scale of 1 to 4, how expensive the model is: from budget to premium. The European rival column is a reference for size and class; it doesn't mean the cars are the same. The yellow tag marks models in our catalog.
