What to know before buying a Lynk & Co
- Sales falling in 2026. After the monthly record of October 2025 (40,213 cars), sales fell for eight months in a row, through June 2026, and in August 2026 they were 37% below August 2025. The brand is responding with discounts and new versions, which can weigh on the resale value of older cars.
- Business model changed often in Europe. Lynk & Co moved from subscription to dealers, then to the Volvo network from 2027, and its owners changed in 2025. Cars brought from China are not the European versions, so do not rely on the EU warranty or network.
- The official dealer in Moldova sells different versions. Since 2025, Lynk & Co has had an official dealer in Chișinău (Auto Space), with the European versions of the 01, 02 and 08 and a 4-year warranty. An 08 or 900 brought directly from China is a version for the Chinese market, and the dealer's official warranty may not cover it; the 900 is not even sold officially in Europe. Ask us what warranty you get for the car you choose.
- The software is designed for China. The 08 and 900 brought to order come with infotainment and apps for the Chinese market. Ask us what language and features the car you choose has.
- The 900 is still new. It was launched in April 2025, so there is no long-term service experience. The electric range in Chinese spec sheets (CLTC) is optimistic: in winter, expect 20–30% less.

A short history
Lynk & Co was unveiled on October 20, 2016, in Berlin, as a joint venture between Geely Auto, Geely Holding and Volvo Cars. The idea was a brand between Geely and Volvo, with Swedish engineering at a lower price. The first models used the CMA platform, developed by Geely and Volvo at their joint CEVT research center in Gothenburg. The first model, the 01 SUV, was built from 2017 at Volvo's Luqiao plant, on the same line as the Volvo XC40. In 2018, its first full year, the brand sold 120,414 cars.
In 2020, Lynk & Co entered Europe with an unusual model: no dealers, only a subscription. For €500 a month you got a hybrid or plug-in hybrid 01, with insurance and maintenance included, and you could cancel at any time. The first "club" opened in Amsterdam at the end of October 2020, the second in Gothenburg. In 2022, the subscription went up to €550 a month. In summer 2024, the 01 was temporarily withdrawn from sale in Europe because of new EU cybersecurity rules, then returned and could be bought or leased.
In China, sales rose to 220,516 in 2021, fell to 180,127 in 2022, then recovered. In 2023 the 08 plug-in hybrid SUV arrived, the first Lynk & Co with the EM-P system and a long electric range. In December 2024 the Z20 electric SUV debuted, sold in Europe as the 02. The year 2024 ended with 285,441 cars sold.
2025 was the year of reorganization. On February 14, Zeekr took over 51% of Lynk & Co: 30% from Volvo Cars, 20% from Geely Holding and another 1% through a capital increase; the remaining 49% stayed with Geely Auto. In April the large six-seat 900 SUV was launched, passing 50,000 units in its first six months. In the summer, the brand also officially entered Moldova, through Auto Space, and in September the 10 EM-P plug-in hybrid sedan was launched. The brand sold 350,495 cars (+22.8%), of which more than 30,000 outside China.
In 2026, sales fell: 144,215 cars in the first half (-6.4%) and about 177,600 in the first eight months (-14.8%). Lynk & Co launched its first station wagon, the 07 GT, and renamed the Z10 and Z20 electric models the 10 EV and 20. In Europe it is dropping the subscription and moving to dealers, and from January 2027 sales and service will be taken over by the Volvo Cars network, under the final agreement signed in September 2026.
What sets it apart
Engineering shared with Volvo
Lynk & Co was born on the CMA platform, the same as the Volvo XC40, and the large 900 SUV uses SPA Evo, an evolution of Volvo's platform for its large models. The link also works the other way: the Volvo XC70, launched in 2025 for China, is the technical twin of the Lynk & Co 08. For the buyer, this means components made in large series and proven on cars sold in Europe as well. The Lynk & Co 01 (2021), 02 and 08 (both in 2025) received five stars in Euro NCAP safety tests.
EM-P: the Lynk & Co plug-in hybrid
EM-P stands for E-Motive Plug-in. The system builds on the Geely group's Leishen hybrid: a 1.5-liter turbo gasoline engine, a dedicated three-speed hybrid transmission (DHT) and, on the 08, two or three electric motors. The gasoline engine can drive the wheels directly, so it is a plug-in hybrid (PHEV), not an extended-range car. On the 08, total output reaches 456 kW, and in Europe the brand quotes up to 200 km of electric-only range (WLTP). The EM-F variant is the conventional hybrid, with no plug.
900: a large SUV on the Volvo platform
The Lynk & Co 900 is 5.24 m long, with a 3.16 m wheelbase and six seats in three rows. It is a plug-in hybrid with all-wheel drive: a 1.5- or 2.0-liter turbo engine, two or three electric motors and batteries from 44.85 to 52.38 kWh. Electric-only range is between 220 and 280 km on the Chinese CLTC cycle; in real conditions, expect less. The top version has 650 kW.
The electric models, on the SEA platform
Lynk & Co's electric models (the 20, formerly the Z20, sold in Europe as the 02, and the 10 EV sedan, formerly the Z10) use the Geely group's SEA platform, the same as Zeekr, the Volvo EX30 and the smart #1. The new 20, launched in September 2026, has an 800 V architecture.
Lynk & Co names are simple numbers. Two-digit ones (01, 03, 05, 06, 07, 08, 09) are the brand's classic models; the number does not always indicate size, but the 08 and 09 are the larger SUVs. "EM-P" at the end means plug-in hybrid, and "EM-F" a conventional hybrid, with no plug. The letter "Z" (Z10, Z20) marked the electric models until 2026, when they became the 10 EV and 20. The 900, with three digits, is the new top of the range. "GT" means station wagon (07 GT). Some models have a different name for export: the Z20 is sold in Europe as the 02.
The full Lynk & Co lineup and positioning
Lynk & Co sits between Geely and Zeekr in the Geely group: more expensive and better equipped than Geely, with engineering shared with Volvo, but below Zeekr on price. In China it competes with upper-mainstream brands and with the entry models of premium brands; in Europe, with Volvo, VW and Kia.
The Price level column shows, on a scale of 1 to 4, how expensive the model is: from budget to premium. The European rival column is a reference for size and class; it doesn't mean the cars are the same. The yellow tag marks models in our catalog.
